It is such a gift to witness people’s light and strength no matter what they are going through. My approach to therapy is both gentle and irreverent, looking for strengths, opportunities for joy and dismantling patterns that no longer serve you. I am interested in examining the systems we exist in and that have shaped us and the lessons that we learned from an early age. I am a firm believer in therapy being collaborative; I focus on helping folks learn to become grounded in themselves and to trust their capacity to overcome whatever life throws at them.
I am warm but direct and use a semi-structured approach to develop shared goals, practice new ways of moving through the world and problem-solve any challenges that may come up. I use evidence-based approaches targeted to different concerns, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma or Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) for emotional regulation. My goal as a therapist is to make my clients feel safe, heard and understood, leaving them with greater capacity and skills to cope with difficult emotions and experiences. I am sex-positive and kink-friendly and welcome folks in different relationship structures

Mila's Counselling Experience:
My journey towards counselling started as a volunteer at a sexual assault centre. I had taken a scenic route to counselling, previously working in criminal justice, wellness and yoga. My previous clinical work included family reunification work through MCFD and supporting individuals recovering from workplace trauma and injuries. These experiences laid a strong foundation for my clinical work, and I now focus on helping folks navigate trauma, anxiety, and OCD with an emphasis on 2SLGBTQIA+ concerns, young adults, and acculturation experiences.
More about Mila:
My experiences as a queer person and a first generation immigrant shape my approach to therapy. In my downtime, you can find me outdoors or on my yoga mat.
